«There Will Be People» (2020) is a historical drama based on Anatolii Dimarov’s novel of the same name. The series follows the lives of Ukrainian villagers from the beginning of the 20th century through the turbulent 1930s. At the center of the story are several families from the Poltava region whose lives change along with the country. At the beginning of the century, the characters dream of love, prosperity, and a peaceful life, but revolutions, World War I, and the rise of a new government force them to fight not only for their own happiness.

Men leave their homes, families wait for them to return from the front, and their familiar way of life gradually falls apart. At the center of the story are Svyryd Ivasyuta, his wife Olena, farmhand Vasyl Hanzha, and other residents of the Poltava region whose lives become closely intertwined.

Olena faces a difficult choice when feelings develop between her and Vasyl that could change the lives of several people. Meanwhile, the war, revolution, and arrival of the new government bring rules to the village that no one is prepared for.

Years pass, the children grow up, and the country sinks deeper into a new reality. The characters’ personal choices can no longer be separated from what is happening around them. By the time the 1930s arrive, the village looks nothing like the place where this story began.
