“Taxi for the Detective” (2026) is a Ukrainian crime comedy series about Motya, a taxi driver who picks up an unusual passenger one day and unexpectedly finds himself caught up in a criminal investigation. Instead of quiet rides around the city, he gets pulled into interrogations, car chases, criminals, and an unlikely partnership with detective Pasich.
What is the series “Taxi for the Detective” about?
Motya knows his city like the back of his hand: where to take a shortcut, which passengers tend to say too much, and which doors are better left unopened. But no amount of street experience can prepare him for the moment when an ordinary shift suddenly turns into a real investigation. After meeting detective Pasich, Motya unexpectedly finds himself among the suspects in a murder case. However, he quickly proves that he may be much more useful on the other side of the investigation.
Pasich is his complete opposite. He follows the rules, checks the facts, and trusts the evidence. Motya, on the other hand, can draw conclusions from a random conversation, a strange look, or a familiar license plate. His methods sometimes seem ridiculous even to himself, yet they repeatedly lead the investigation in directions that official logic fails to uncover.
And so an unusual partnership begins. While Pasich tries to keep Motya on the right side of the law, the taxi driver gradually realizes something else: some passengers get into his car for a reason.
