What is the series “Pride and Prejudice” about?
The story takes place in 1797. The Bennet family has five unmarried daughters, and their lives are constantly watched by local society, where the question of a beneficial marriage holds great importance.
A wealthy young gentleman, Mr. Bingley, arrives in their area. His arrival immediately becomes an event for everyone around. The eldest daughter, Jane Bennet, catches his attention and he develops sincere feelings for her almost at first sight.
However, his choice does not receive support from those around him. Mr. Bingley’s sisters consider the Bennet family to be of lower social status. The same opinion is shared by his close friend — Mr. Darcy, an influential and wealthy young gentleman.
However, meeting the Bennet family changes his own views. Despite his reserved and proud nature, he begins paying more attention to Elizabeth and gradually realizes that his feelings contradict his first impression.
The situation becomes more complicated with the arrival of Lieutenant Wickham. He brings rumors and hints about the past that could affect Mr. Darcy’s reputation.
