“Harold and the Purple Crayon” (2024) is a family fantasy adventure about Harold, the hero of an old storybook who can create an entire world with a few strokes of his magical purple crayon. But one day, he leaves the illustrated pages behind and finds himself among real people, where his unusual gift turns out to be far more difficult to use.

What is the movie “Harold and the Purple Crayon” about?

In Harold’s storybook world, everything depends on his imagination. Need a bridge across a river? He simply draws one. Want to travel somewhere new? A few strokes are enough. But once he steps beyond the familiar pages, the rules he knows no longer apply.

In the real world, Harold and Moose meet Mel and his mother, Terri, who help him adjust to his unfamiliar surroundings. There is no narrator who can fix every problem with a single stroke of a crayon, and ordinary human things turn out to be more complicated than the strangest adventures from the book.

Soon, the magical crayon attracts the attention of people who want to use its power for their own purposes. As Harold searches for his creator, he must figure out whom he can trust, take responsibility for his own decisions, and understand that the real world cannot simply be rewritten with a stroke of a crayon.
