“Sicario 2” (2018) is a tense crime thriller about the struggle of U.S. intelligence agencies against Mexican drug cartels, where the line between law and lawlessness is completely blurred. What is the movie “Sicario 2” about?

At the U.S.–Mexico border, a bloody war with drug cartels continues, as they have controlled illegal trafficking, violence, and smuggling for years. Following a series of attacks on the border, the U.S. government decides to act more aggressively and less officially. CIA agent Matt Graver is tasked with sparking an internal war between the cartels using methods that fall outside any legal framework. To carry out the mission, he once again recruits Alejandro Gillick — an operative who works where others no longer dare to go.

The plan begins with the kidnapping of the daughter of one of the cartel leaders, intended to trigger division and chaos among criminal groups. However, it quickly becomes clear that the situation is spiraling out of control, while political interests within the operation itself begin to clash.

“Sicario 2” once again immerses viewers in a dark world of covert operations where right choices hardly exist, and every step further pulls the characters deeper into the chaos of cartel warfare.
