What is "The Witch of Konotop" about?

Olena and Andriy live in harmony, enjoying every moment together. But their happiness is shattered by the Russian military invasion. While trying to escape the war zone, they encounter Russian soldiers, and Andriy dies in Olena's arms. Her rage and desire for revenge transform into an unstoppable force. Once, she renounced her witchcraft powers for the love of Andriy, but now nothing will stop the powerful witch. She will spare no effort and will devise increasingly cruel ways to exact vengeance on those who took her beloved.
The film's creators drew inspiration from ancient Ukrainian legends and beliefs, as well as a real-life event when, at the beginning of the Russian invasion in 2022, a resident of Konotop cursed the invaders, claiming that "every second woman in Konotop is a witch."
