The documentary film, created by the memorial platform Memorial, tells the story of Vadym Khlupyanets, a ballet dancer of the Kyiv National Operetta Theater. Since 2015, he has been gathering applause at sold-out performances, and in 2022 he took off his ballet shoes, took up a weapon and went to defend the Motherland.
Warrior was from Donetsk. After the Russian attack, he had never been in his hometown, but he always dreamed of liberating Donetsk from the occupiers and assured everyone that it would happen one day. As part of the "Svoboda" battalion, he participated in fierce battles for Lysychansk, Severodonetsk and Bakhmut. On November 15, 2022, a bullet from a Russian sniper took the life of a 26-year-old artist in the Bakhmut district.
On the morning of November 24, Vadym was sent off with applause at the National Operetta, and in the evening of the same day, the premiere of the play "Bal" by the Italian director took place, in which Vadym Khlup'yanets was also supposed to play. It was dedicated to a warrior.
